Spirit/Psychic Art

Alongside my work as a professional artist and illustrator, I have also been venturing into the realm of spirit and psychic art; a calling in my creative journey that I can no longer ignore due to repeated paranormal intrusions into my practice. I am genuinely enjoying the process of exploring this side of myself and building upon discoveries made.

A brief explanation...

Spirit Art

This aspect of my practice comes into play when creating posthumous portraits or even landscapes on some occasions.

Psychic Art

Consisting mostly of clairvoyant images which I include in my artwork as well as other psychic downloads of information.

Mediumship

My spirit art practice often opens up an access point enabling me to connect/communicate with a discarnate spirit via mediumship.

My Story

For as long as I can remember, I have experienced intrusions from the spirit world connected to my art practice. As a child, it would manifest as never really feeling alone when I sat down to draw and paint...as if some kind of presence or force was guiding me to create. During my teenage years, my Grandma (a talented landscape artist) sadly passed away and I was subsequently given her oil paints in preparation for an art college course I'd enrolled on after studying my A levels. For reasons I could not explain or understand at the time,  I became increasingly aware that when I handled these oil paints, I would often feel my Grandma's presence around me and bizarrely, within me too. It was from this feeling of profound comfort and connection that my love of oil painting was born.

Initially, I accepted these things as being  'normal' or just a part of the grieving process and didn't feel the need to question or investigate anything further. That all changed when I started my career as a professional artist.

Things ramped up considerably then, from finding my easel completely unscrewed and bent into bizarre, distorted shapes several times during a prolonged period of  'artists block', to having paintings that weren't working fly off my easel right in front of me! My intuition getting progressively stronger during this time, encouraging me to move forward with or abandon various creative projects.

The turning point came when I was commissioned to paint a posthumous portrait of a friend's sister who had sadly passed away for too soon. Her name was Emma. She loved walking and one of her favourite places to visit was, 'Moel Famau' (a small, local mountain forming part of the Clwydian Range). The strange thing here is that I have the most fantastic view of Moel Famau from my art studio and from the moment I started painting Emma, there was such a profound feeling of her presence around me. Even gazing at the view of Moel Famau from my studio window felt different, as if something inside me had shifted a little.

This was to be the first of many spirit/psychic art portraits where a presence was detected and felt thus enabling me to feel a personality/character from within and then translate that sentiment into paint. I have since been able to develop my spirit/psychic art practice much further, from producing random spirit portraits from lines of light manifesting on the pages in my sketchbook to focused channeling and gentle mediumship readings linked to commissioned portraits of the deceased.

I still have a lot to learn and see my spirit/psychic art practice as a 'work in progress'. I must also stress that I am in no way 'unique' in what I am doing. I think we all have it in us to develop this side of our being and that we all possess various skills and abilities in this field. Artists are well known for their great sensitivity, and I think it is for this reason that many of us act as a magnet or conduit for this kind of phenomena. I will be adding more information/images to this site as I go along, going into much more detail about my practice so do keep a look out if this is of interest to you.

As for my Grandma, I still get immense comfort from using her paints today in all my oil paintings. I regularly  feel her presence and guiding influence as I work and continue to treasure the beautiful signs and synchronicities that she often sends my way.
